Seared Ahi Tuna Salad
SEARED AHI TUNA SALAD😍
We all have a stash of recipes (or takeout numbers) when work is kicking our butt and we don’t want to even think of making dinner. This healthy meal sounds like it’d be on a fancy restaurant menu but comes together in less than 10 minutes and requires 0 skill and minimal clean up (double win). You need this, trust me😋
Serves 2.
Ingredients:
For the Seared Ahi:
2 (4-6oz) filets of Sushi grade ahi tuna
1-2 tbsps homemade blackened seasoning (equal parts chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne)
1-2 tbsps Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel Seasoning (can sub for sesame seeds)
1 tbsp avocado oil (or vegetable or canola)
For the Salad:
3 cups arugula or spring mix
1/4 cup Trader Joe’s Orange Muscat Vinegar (sub for equal parts white vinegar and fresh orange juice to keep this Whole30 approved)
2 tbsps olive oil
1 tsp dijon mustard
Salt and pepper
Cherry tomatoes (optional)
1 avocado (optional)
Directions:
For the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad:
On a plate, mix together the blackened seasoning and everything but the bagel. Coat the tuna steaks generously with the spice mix.
Get a cast iron skillet super hot and add in avocado oil. Sear the tuna steaks 2-3 minutes per side until they develop a crust. Sear the ends for 30 seconds each side. Remove from pan and let rest for 2 minutes before slicing.
Meanwhile place vinegar, olive oil, dijon mustard, salt and pepper in a mason jar and shake until well combined. Drizzle over the lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado and serve with the tuna and enjoy!
