Whipped Feta Dip

WHIPPED FETA DIP😍

This dip has rightfully earned its spot in my holiday appetizer arsenal. Fresh feta gets whipped with greek yogurt, lemon juice, and seasoning for an ultra creamy dip guaranteed to be a hit this holiday season. It’s basically a dump everything into a food processor or blender and let it do the work - truly couldn’t be easier. Break out some pita chips or crusty bread and get to dipping! You can also add this dip to a Mediterranean themed mezze board with dolma, kalamata olives, hummus, pita bread, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, grapes, etc. for big hosting energy.

Note:

  • I love using preserved lemons in this, as they have a less sharp taste than regular lemons. However, unless you have some already in your fridge, it takes 3 weeks to make them since they need to cure, so if you want to make this soon, just use lemon juice and lemon zest instead.

Serves 6-8.

Ingredients:

For the Whipped Feta:

  • 8oz feta (look for fresh feta that comes in brine)

  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt

  • ½ preserved lemon (recipe here, or 1 tbsp lemon juice + 1 tsp lemon zest)

  • Juice from 1 lemon

  • 3 tbsps extra virgin olive oil + 1 tbsp for topping

  • 1 garlic clove

  • 2 tbsps chopped fresh chives

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • Za’atar or sumac for topping

  • Crackers or pita chips for serving

Directions:

For the Whipped Feta Dip:

  • Add feta, greek yogurt, preserved lemon, lemon juice, 3 tbsps olive oil, garlic, chives, and pepper to a food processor or blender and pulse until smooth and combined. Taste and adjust seasonings - wait to salt until the end, as the feta will likely be salty enough.

  • Add to a serving bowl and drizzle with the remaining olive oil and season with za’atar or sumac. Serve with crackers or pita chips and enjoy!
